SALA exhibition full of sole

Tatachilla’s student-artists have transformed everyday footwear into extraordinary works of art as part of this year’s South Australian Living Artists (SALA) Festival.

From painted sneakers that told stories of family and culture to sculptural heels that explored memory, place and imagination, “Walk in My Shoes” was a vibrant and thought-provoking exhibition that invited audiences to “walk” alongside the artist’s journey.

The exhibition was a celebration of creativity and storytelling—proof that art can turn the ordinary into something extraordinary, and that to really understand the perspective of others, you need "put yourself in someone's else’s shoes".

Opening night on Thursday 28 August was filled with colour, conversation and pride, as families, friends and members of our community explored the beautiful gallery space within the college’s EcoSanctuary.

It was an evening that highlighted not only the talent of our students but also the role of the visual arts as a powerful language of expression at Tatachilla.

The college congratulates all of its exhibiting artists and thanks art teachers Coral Winterbourn and Jessica Felgenhaur for their leadership, artistry and support.
