At Tatachilla Lutheran College, we pride ourselves on the range of extra-curricular sporting opportunities available to our students. Sport teams are nominated for local zone competitions, as well as SAPSASA (Years 5-7) and SSSSA (Years 8-12) knockout competitions based on student interest and sign up numbers. Trials and trainings are usually held by coaches during lunchtimes in the lead up to the competition.
For SSSSA, Tatachilla enter teams in Cricket, Tennis, Touch Football, Ultimate Frisbee, AFL, Netball, Soccer, Basketball, Ekiden, Surfing, Triathlon and Volleyball. Individual students also attend Cycling, Golf and Equestrian competitions. In Term 1, a school representative team is selected from Sports Day and Swimming Carnival results to represent the school in athletics and swimming in the SSSSA Competition.
For the SAPSASA competition, Tatachilla nominates teams for AFL, Cricket, Tennis, Soccer, Basketball, Touch Football and Netball. In Term 1, a school representative team is chosen for Athletics, Swimming and Cross Country. Students in Years 6 and 7 are also able to nominate and trial for the Onkaparinga South District Teams to represent the zone in a number of sports including Softball, Hockey, Netball, AFL, Soccer, Tennis and Cricket. The district team competes for a week against the other zones in South Australia.
In 2016, Tatachilla won the Year 8/9 Girls State Championships for Soccer.
